Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this vital role, you will operate various types of commercial vehicles, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, to safely transport passengers of all ages. Your primary goal is to ensure safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the community by providing dependable transportation solutions with a focus on passenger safety and comfort. Duties Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, boarding, and disembarking procedures to ensure accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges Maintain a clean, organized vehicle interior and perform routine safety checks before each trip Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers, addressing their needs, and managing behavior in accordance with school policies and conduct standards Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies by implementing emergency stop procedures and following emergency response protocols for transportation Ensure passenger safety at all times by enforcing safety rules, child discipline policies, and behavior management strategies Complete accurate logs of trips, mileage, incidents, and vehicle inspections in compliance with state and local laws Requirements Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport and wheelchair assistance Proven experience driving buses or similar commercial vehicles in a safe manner Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation Ability to lift heavy objects when assisting passengers or performing vehicle inspections Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Familiarity with school policies related to student discipline and childcare practices Demonstrated understanding of child safety protocols and behavior management techniques CPR certification and First Aid training are highly desirable to respond effectively during emergencies Ability to quickly respond to traffic changes or unexpected situations while maintaining passenger safety Experience working with children or senior care is preferred but not required; a compassionate attitude is essential Join our team today to help us deliver safe, reliable transportation services that make a difference in our community!
