The Safety Specialist is responsible for the development and facilitation of environment, health, and safety (EHS) programs within our Junction City, Kansas distribution center. In this role, you will create a strong safety culture through implementation of best practices and demonstrated knowledge of EHS and workers' compensation laws and regulations, translating them into actionable processes. Responsibilities Develop, build, and execute a strategy in support of Supply Chain's strategic goals to reduce injuries, accidents, and incidents by fostering a culture of safety Leverage metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern, and drive accountability through established formalized Job Safety Analyses and risk assessments Ensure compliance with all applicable Foot Locker policies by developing safety programs and providing guidance and oversight Maintain a thorough understanding of local, regional, and domestic regulations, m onitoring the regulatory arena for new and changing regulations and rulemaking, including hazardous communication programs Maintain product labeling systems and Safety Data Sheet inventory Act accordingly in the event of an environmental incident or injury in the workplace with a basic understanding of OSHA guidelines, injury & illness rate, recordables, near misses, and first aid Identify proper PPE for the job and drive accountability with team members on PPE usage Understand the audit process, the importance of open reporting, and conformance Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures, bringing problems to the attention leadership and/or HR as needed Qualifications 1-3 years experience with distribution center safety initiatives, security, continuous improvement, and/or engineering Demonstrated ability to research and synthesize information Strong communication skills, including comfortability voicing opinion and asking questions Ability to comprehend safety instructions, participate in safety drills, and effectively communicate in case of emergencies Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite Organizational skills
