Regional Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist Job Type:
Full-Time, On-Site (Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS) The Regional Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for Food Safety and Quality Assurance for 2 facilities located in Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS. The home office for this position will be located in Kansas City, KS. The position requires oversight and compliance to Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification for the 2 facilities. In addition to site responsibilities, the position will collaborate with Corporate Quality on Vendor Qualifications, Finished Product Specifications, and Continuous Improvement. Job Duties Oversight of the SQF system and policy to include: Revision of policies and procedures as needed. Oversee document maintenance and control including writing and revising SOPs, maintaining revision history and implementing current versions. Complete Hazard Analysis and Implement Critical Control Points as needed. Assist operation, administrative assistance, and laboratory staff on development of departmental training programs and documentation. Conduct Quality meetings to communicate changes to quality policy, CAPA updates, and customer service complaints. Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement projects Create and oversee internal audit schedule including training of auditors and selecting target auditing dates. Evaluate and document audit results and issue CAPAs as needed. Represent the sites during external audits and regulatory agency visits. Address audit results in a timely manner. Review Operation's forms and mix tickets for completion and accuracy. Conduct daily plant inspections and address food safety concerns with Operations management. Participate in daily metric meetings by evaluating data for trends and non-conformances. Recommend standardization in processes across all sites. Conduct tracebacks and identify improvements in the traceback process. Collaborate with Corporate Quality on EU, South Africa, and other global certifications. Audit Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) review documentation and verify adherence to policy. Suggest improvements to facilities and processes to ensure food safety. Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager on investigation of out-of-specification testing results. Collaborate with Corporate Quality on client onboarding and new product launches that involve the 3 sites. Assist Administrative Assistants with transportation vehicle prior load and sanitation evaluations. Cross train in the laboratory and assist with testing as needed. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Experience, Education & Skills Requirements H.S. Diploma or GED and 6 years of food safety and quality assurance experience in an SQF system or a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience. HACCP, PCQI, and SQF Practitioner certification preferred Proficient with Office 365 (primarily Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Word) Ability to research and evaluate food safety hazards and apply knowledge in risk assessments and food safety policies Reliable, Organized, Efficient, Attention to detail Clear verbal communicator Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to manage multiple projects and multiple facilities independently Able to work as part of a team Physical Requirements Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, walk, reach, squat, push, pull, and climb stairs for extended periods of time Must be able to work from elevated surfaces and/or in confined spaces for extended periods of time Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs Benefits 401(k) and matching Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance Company paid life insurance Other supplemental insurances PTO and Holiday Pay The pay range for this role is: 75,000 - 82,000 USD per year(Kansas City)
