In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring fire safety systems, conducting inspections, and enforcing building and fire codes to prevent hazards. Your energetic presence will help maintain a secure environment, promote safety awareness, and support emergency response procedures. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to public safety while developing expertise in fire prevention, system design, and security operations. Responsibilities Conduct continuous fire watch patrols across construction sites or facilities to identify potential fire hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols. Monitor and inspect sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and other fire safety equipment to verify proper operation according to NFPA standards and local fire codes. Perform construction inspection tasks related to fire safety measures, including verifying compliance with building code analysis and life safety building codes. Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection during inspections or when working near hazardous materials (Hazmat). Assist in fire prevention inspections by reviewing system design plans, sprinkler fitting, and fire alarm sales processes for compliance with IFC (International Fire Code) standards. Respond promptly to emergency situations by following established emergency response procedures, coordinating with first responders as needed. Educate the public or site personnel on fire safety practices, including public safety education initiatives related to fire prevention and alarm system awareness. Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, incidents, and compliance checks; prepare shift reports for management review. Experience Prior experience in security or a related field is preferred; candidates with supervising experience are highly valued. Knowledge of system design principles for fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and NFPA standards is essential. Construction experience or background in construction inspection enhances understanding of building code compliance requirements. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools for report writing and record keeping is necessary. Certification or training in Hazmat handling, firefighting techniques, or emergency response procedures is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to operate fire apparatus or firefighting equipment is a plus. Strong customer service skills combined with clear communication are vital for effective public safety education.
