This position will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to reduce workplace risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a proactive safety culture throughout the facility. The Industrial Safety Specialist will lead safety initiatives involving OSHA compliance, employee training, incident investigations, risk reduction, and continuous improvement activities within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment. Essential Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain facility safety policies and procedures utilizing Safety 101 and Vector Solutions Training tool Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations. Conduct routine plant safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, and compliance documentation. Coordinate and conduct employee safety training programs, including new hire orientation. Administer and support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, machine guarding, PPE, and hazard communication programs. Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance while on company property. Partner with supervisors and managers to promote employee accountability and safe work practices. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in workplace safety, ergonomics, and risk reduction. Assist with workers compensation case management and return-to-work programs. Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities. Track and communicate safety performance metrics and trends to leadership. Promote a culture of safety ownership, accountability, and employee engagement throughout the organization. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3 years of industrial or manufacturing safety experience. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to conduct investigations and develop corrective actions. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and safety documentation systems. Ability to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of employees. Preferred Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or related field. OSHA 30 certification preferred. Experience in plastics, extrusion, chemical processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations preferred. ASP, CSP, or other professional safety certifications are considered a plus. ISO 9001
2015 or continuous improvement systems preferred. Work Environment Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, forklift traffic, elevated noise levels, heat, dust, and chemicals. Position requires regular plant floor presence and interaction with production personnel. Must be capable of standing, walking, climbing stairs, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional off-shift or weekend support may be required based on operational or emergency needs.
