Construction Safety Specialist 7:00am

Car Allowance Summary:
The Safety Specialist I will report to the Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Director or the Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Manager and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS systems.
Essential Functions:
Develop and enhance KCC EHS policies and procedures. Serve as a resource to all field personnel in relation to EHS matters. Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks or job site reviews. Develop, track, and drive leading indicator data to reduce job-site risk. Prioritize safety need with a high level of communication with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foreman. Complete job site hazard analysis through the JSA program and make recommendations for engineering/administrative solutions. Be confident to present training and learning materials to small and large audiences. Establish a culture of incident reporting, no matter how minor the incident. Create or update programs/policies to drive a positive safety culture and performance. Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste at main shop location. Act as a professional liaison in case of governmental inspections. Develop relationships with general contractors, vendors, and professional organizations. Immediately address any hazardous job site conditions in conjunction with site leadership. Review general contractor expectations and implement any needed changes for job site compliance. Maintain all EHS records for review. Assist the EHS Director in the development and implementation of corporate safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and related policies such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Review contractor site safety programs. Assist superintendents in administering counseling to employees and subcontractors who are in non-compliance with safety requirements. Work off shift hours or respond to calls as needed. Perform other tasks as directed by the EHS Director.
Qualifications:
Requirement:
Valid U.S. driver's license. Reliable daily transportation. Minimum of 5 years of construction safety related experience. General working knowledge of OSHA construction standards. Willing to travel locally from job site to job site. Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Preferred:
Excellent computer skills and Microsoft products experience preferred. First-aid, CPR, AED training is a plus. Degree in Occupational Safety and Health with a construction discipline.
