We are currently searching for a Safety Coordinator for our Caledonia, Michigan location. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Safety Assist with OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Coordinate with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager on development and implementation of health and safety procedures and policies. Provide
OSHA/EPA/DOT
required training for new employee orientation, continual education, and required compliance programs. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations. Report, compile and investigate all incidents. Review incident reports to provide corrective and preventative actions. Leads the team in the investigation. Coaches onsite staff in accident investigation, root cause analysis, problem solving, implementing countermeasures and sustainment. Follows up on safety action items. Schedule and manage Safety Committee meetings. Continuous Improvement Support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the site meets best practice standards to enable a PDCA culture. Provide assistance as needed to support productivity, material control, product quality, on-time delivery, and customer service goals. Core Competencies Required Interpersonal Skills—the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas, and exhibits willingness to try new things. Excellent interpersonal, time management and planning skills. Action and hands-on orientated focus for driving improvement and solving root cause problems in CI and EHS. Ability to communicate effectively across mediums, audiences, and situations. Includes internal and external audiences, and higher and lower company positions. Includes training and instruction. Strong knowledge of Excel, and strong knowledge of Word, Power Point, Project, and other applicable tools. EH&S experience, preferably at a corrugated business, with knowledge of regulatory requirements. Experience in conducting audits and implementation of EH&S managements systems. Must have good oral and written communication skills as well as good listening skills. Must be very detailed in recordkeeping.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION
Minimum of high school diploma or GED. Minimum of 30 OSHA Training for General Industry. Understanding and knowledge of industrial safety and environmental in a working environment. Preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or similar LEAN/Continuous Improvement Certification. Preferred
  • ISO 9001
    Certifications. Preferred
  • Bachelor degree in occupational health & safety or similar field. Preferred
  • Three year of experience in safety and/or human resources in a manufacturing environment and an associate degree or greater.
