Learn more about us at https://www.hawkinsinc.com/careers/ ABOUT THE JOB This Safety Specialist role will provide leadership and assistance in the prevention of workplace incidents and injuries. Identifies and corrects potential safety and health hazards and ensures occupational regulatory requirements are met. Implements safe work instructions and monitors conformance through site assessments. Analyzes personal protective safety equipment needs and assists in the procurement process. Coordinates medical surveillance such as respiratory fit testing and DOT physicals. Coordinates employee safety training and participates in safety committee meetings. Monitors and reports on organizational safety and health performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety:
Coach and mentor employees to ensure compliance with all applicable company and government regulations. Support incident investigations and corrective action process. Proactively seek ways to improve overall employee health and safety performance. Manage Safety Training program including content, delivery and reporting
Assessments:
Conduct safety assessments at plant locations. Communicate findings. Manage documentation.
External Reporting:
Complete required regulatory reporting such as
OSHA 300
logs. Manage external safety databases.
Policies and Procedures:
Working with leadership, update safety related policies and procedures; review regulations and compare with company policies to ensure compliance; verify that employees are adhering to the company policies and procedures as written.
Security:
Assist with compliance with DHS security requirements for our facilities. Manage Emergency Response Programs including
Drills:
Assist with Emergency Response Team structure, training, and facility emergency response drills.
Miscellaneous:
Perform other miscellaneous related duties, as needed.
Other Tasks:
Complete other tasks and compliance responsibilities. Perform other miscellaneous related duties, as needed.
ABOUT YOU
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or equivalent experience Minimum five years' experience in a safety or regulatory role required OSHA 30 and/or
OSHA 511
coursework preferred ASP/CSP certification preferred Training development and delivery experience preferred Excellent communication and time management skills Excellent follow-up and organizational skills Ability to work well both autonomously and as part of a collaborative group Ability to source information from internal and external sources Proficient at using Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sit, stand, bend, reach, walk for extended periods of time in an office or manufacturing setting Work in manufacturing areas where conditions may include odors, varying temperatures, wet floors, and moderate levels of noise Wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator and chemical resistant suit Ascend and descend stairs Lift and carry 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
TRAVEL:
Up to 25%
Expected Compensation:
$110,000-130,000/Yr. + 10% bonus eligibility Hawkins offers eligible employees and their dependents comprehensive benefits, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, LTD/STD and more.
