Environmental Health Specialist Nuisance/ Solid Waste Salary $54,225.60 - $69,243.20 Annually Location Lincoln, NE Job Type Full time/probationary or status Job Number 202600442 Department Health Department Division Environmental Public Health Opening Date 08/19/2026 Closing Date 9/2/2026 11:59 PM Central Description Benefits Questions Job Posting Information The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, Waste Management and Hazardous Materials Section, is looking for an outgoing, self-motivated individual to be a part of a team with the goal of protecting and promoting the Public's Health. Primary duties will include conducting inspections, investigations, working at Lincoln's Hazardous Waste Center and collection events, and may serve on the department emergency response/HAZMAT team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in environmental science, environmental health, environmental engineering, or biological, chemical or physical sciences; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license. Must be registered as a Provisional Registered Environmental Health Specialist in the State of Nebraska within one (1) month of appointment. Full-time, Monday - Friday; 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Some evenings and weekends may be required. For benefit information related to this position, please click on the Benefits tab.
