Full Job Description Responsibilities:
Health & Safety Officer (HSO) - Central & Southern NJ Projects HazTek Safety Management is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer (HSO) to support a long-term construction program throughout Central and Southern New Jersey. This position will be based primarily at a Somerset/Millstone area project site and will provide safety oversight for a major ground-up construction project while supporting additional active projects throughout the region, including the Jersey Shore and Southern New Jersey. Projects involve multiple subcontractors and a variety of construction activities including excavation, trenching, crane operations, concrete placement, mechanical installation, and electrical work. Responsibilities Provide daily construction safety oversight and support Conduct site audits, inspections, and safety assessments Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA and site-specific requirements Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and orientations as needed Track corrective actions and follow up on safety observations Review high-risk activities and work plans Prepare reports and communicate findings to project leadership Promote a strong safety culture among project teams and subcontractors
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience Experience supporting multi-employer construction projects Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards Experience with excavation, cranes, concrete, mechanical, and electrical work Excellent communication and reporting skills CHST preferred Additional construction safety certifications strongly desired Additional Information Long-term construction program with projects expected to continue for approximately two years Primary assignment in the Somerset/Millstone area Regional support responsibilities throughout Central and Southern New Jersey Travel throughout assigned territory required Company-paid mileage and applicable toll reimbursement Potential overtime opportunities as construction activities increase
