In this vital role, you will oversee health and safety standards within family child care settings, ensuring environments are nurturing, secure, and compliant with all relevant laws. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will foster a safe space for children to thrive while supporting families through guidance and education. Duties Conduct regular health and safety inspections of family child care homes to ensure compliance with licensing standards and safety protocols Provide guidance to caregivers on best practices for child health, hygiene, injury prevention, and emergency procedures Monitor for adherence to child protective services laws and mandated reporting requirements, ensuring prompt action when concerns arise Assist families and caregivers with conflict management strategies and behavioral health support techniques Implement crisis intervention strategies during emergencies or behavioral incidents, maintaining calm and effective communication Document observations, safety violations, incident reports, and follow-up actions thoroughly and accurately Collaborate with social workers, child welfare agencies, and family law professionals to support the well-being of children and families Requirements Conduct scheduled and unannounced health and safety monitoring visits to affiliated family child care providers. Monitor compliance with Licensing Agency, and network health and safety requirements. Complete detailed monitoring reports and maintain accurate electronic and paper documentation. CPR/First Aid certifications Mandated Reporter training Health & Safety training Insurance documentation Emergency plans Staff records Identify areas requiring corrective action and provide technical assistance to achieve compliance. Follow up on outstanding corrective action plans and monitor progress. Educate providers on health and safety best practices. Maintain professional communication with providers and network staff. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Assist with special projects and compliance initiatives as assigned. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Public Health, Human Services, Nursing, or a related field preferred. Experience working in child care, family child care, licensing, health and safety, or regulatory compliance preferred. Knowledge of OCFS regulations and DOE Family Child Care Network requirements is highly desirable. Excellent organizational, time management, and documentation skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. This role is essential in promoting safe, healthy environments where children can flourish.
