About Us Hunter & Hilsberg is a "small-batch" specialty maker of fruit spreads, jams, jellies, chutneys, preserves and sauces supplying gourmet stores, farm markets, grocery and food service customers throughout the country. We are looking for those with a passion for artisanal foods who are detail-oriented and have a positive outlook to join our small team and become a highly skilled jam & jelly maker. What You'll Do As much an art as it is a science, you will work with a small team and learn all aspects of turning simple ingredients into shelf-stable, high quality, old-school-style preserves and fruit spreads. The goal in this position is to become fully trained alongside the company founders and fellow jam-makers in order to be skilled at managing the entire production process. Production teamwork involves product preparation, following process formulations, cooking, packaging, record-keeping and cleaning in accordance with Global Food Safety Initiative and Safe Quality Foods principles. Expectations Provide mutual support to all team members and fellow batch managers, ensure all quality assurance and food safety control points are met, and have the initiative to identify and complete open tasks. Candidates should be available to work Mondays through Fridays, between 8:45 am until completion of each day's batch close-out (ca. 5-6 pm) and have the following attributes: Detail-oriented Able to work cooperatively with others Positive & encouraging to others Able to lift 30-50 pounds, repeatedly Able to stand for extended periods of time Cleanliness & Timeliness Self-motivating to operate efficiently Experience If you have experience working in food service, farming, food production or other manufacturing environments, or have personal skills and experience with canning, cooking, baking, and other crafting, please be sure to highlight it in your application or in a cover letter. Pay rate and any bonus pay are graduated based on a number of factors, including experience, the amount of team and batch responsibility carried daily, full time or part time status, length of time with the company, and individual performance. This position is full-time for those 18 years of age or older.
