Shift:
First Shift,Second Shift Observes individuals with developmental disabilities riding on the bus to assure the health and safety of all passengers. This includes the loading and unloading of mobile and immobile individuals (wheelchair assisted). Observes students' behavior and environmental situations on the bus to detect adverse conditions which could threaten health and safety; Assists in the loading and unloading of buses and the securing of students in their seats and wheelchairs; Assists the driver in route directions and locating addresses; Assists in maintaining accurate passenger records; Complies with all safety rules as established by the Ohio Department of Education, and Board Transportation Policies and Procedures; Completes documentation of all incidents and accidents as they occur; Attends all Agency In-Services and other training programs, as assigned; Reports any concerns to the driver; Displays knowledge of the proper use of securing devices for safety vest, wheelchairs, car seats and seatbelts.
Experience and Skills:
Ability to: Appropriately handle stress and interact with others, to include the ability to follow supervisory direction. Displays knowledge of and an awareness for the Board's safety and security program and follows established guidelines regarding safety rules, accident reporting, emergency codes, drills, policies, and procedures. Practice Universal precautions as outlined by the Board's Exposure Control Plan. Follow all reporting requirements pertaining to UI/MUI. Adheres to work schedule pertaining to attendance and punctuality. Absenteeism is within acceptable guidelines. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
