As a Region Trainer, you will be the driving force behind building a culture of safety excellence across multiple sites. You'll equip new hires with knowledge and confidence to work safely from day one, ensure our CMV drivers operate with skill and compliance, and keep our teams aligned with OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations. Your work will directly reduce incidents, improve operational efficiency, and protect both our people and the communities we serve.
Responsibilities of Position:
Lead new hire safety orientation sessions that set the tone for a safety-first mindset from day one
Deliver Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driver training, covering pre-trip inspections, defensive driving, load securement, and safe operating practices
Conduct OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA compliance training for all operational roles, ensuring regulatory requirements are met and exceeded
Partner with Region/Area Safety and Heavy Equipment / PIT subject matter experts to develop and manage qualified HE and Certified PIT training programs
Maintain accurate training documentation, including attendance records, certifications, and compliance reports for audits and internal tracking
Develop and maintain a process to measure and document training competencies through knowledge checks or other means
Facilitate daily toolbox talks and safety huddles, providing relevant, engaging, and actionable safety messaging
Perform field observations and ride a-longs to coach employees in real-world scenarios and reinforce safe work habits
Partner with operations leaders to identify training needs, develop targeted programs, and address safety trends or recurring issues
Support incident investigations by providing training-related insights and recommending corrective actions
Assist with site level health & safety inspections/audits for compliance verification
Perform other duties as assigned

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
Must have knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA/industrial safety compliance as they relate to the waste hauling industry
Knowledge and understanding of the mechanical functions of commercial vehicles and equipment
Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Windows applications
Knowledge of the waste industry and hauling operations
Ability to operate a commercial vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations/compliance
Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and training Experience & Knowledge Needed for

Waste industry experience is a plus
Understanding of DOT and OSHA requirements is required
5+ years experience in keeping detailed and accurate records in a safety environment
5+ years experience in reading & interpreting federal, state and local Safety regulations
Previous experience conducting instructor led or practical training preferred Physical Requirements in a

Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
Frequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions

Continuously sitting/standing/walking
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:
Must have at least a valid Class B CDL with 2+ years of commercial driving experience.
Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
Must be at least 19 years of age
No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
Exposure to residential and commercial waste
Ability to travel between offices, as required
Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Valid driver's license (if applicable) Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
