We are seeking a Site Safety Specialist to support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Health and Safety Management System while helping foster a strong Safety First culture across our operations. This role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Environmental, Human Resources, and site leadership to identify workplace hazards, strengthen regulatory compliance, conduct training, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that protect our employees and support operational excellence. Job Purpose To support the organization's Health and Safety programs by promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, identifying and mitigating workplace risks, supporting incident investigations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance employee safety and operational performance. Key Responsibilities Support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the site's Health and Safety Management System Promote a Safety First culture through employee engagement, coaching, mentoring, and visible leadership Conduct workplace inspections, safety observations, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments to identify and reduce workplace hazards Participate in incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action development Monitor corrective actions to ensure timely completion and effectiveness Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations, ISO 45001 requirements, and company health and safety policies and procedures Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and Health and Safety Management System initiatives Utilize safety management systems, including EHS Insight or similar platforms, to manage incidents, inspections, observations, corrective actions, and training records Assist in developing, updating, and delivering safety training programs, procedures, and work instructions Monitor safety performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement opportunities Build collaborative partnerships across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Environmental, Human Resources, and leadership to improve overall safety performance Support additional safety and compliance initiatives as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting health and safety programs within an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, mining, or similar heavy industrial environment Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, ISO 45001, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation practices Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, employee training, and workplace hazard assessments Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred
ISO 45001
Internal Auditor certification preferred Experience with Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) preferred Experience using EHS Insight or similar safety management software preferred Compliance and Physical Requirements Must meet ITAR and NAID requirements Ability to work throughout an active industrial manufacturing environment, including walking production areas, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) Occasional travel may be required Schedule and Benefits Monday through Friday Standard business hours with flexibility to support operational needs, training, incident response, audits, and special projects Medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days 401(k) with company match after six months Paid time off and company holidays Company-sponsored events and team lunches Professional development and career growth opportunities Equal Opportunity Employer Sibanye-Stillwater is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
