Status:
Full-Time, permanent position (40 hours) Standard working hours: 8am to 5pm
EST, M-F.
Will travel across the VA and Northeastern NC for technical assist visits approx. 2-3x a month
Location:
Will report daily at 1330 Sentara Park in Virginia Beach, VA.
Job responsibilities:
Position overseeing EHS Specialists obligations and responsibilities, as well as supporting the EHS Manager with daily operations in the development and monitoring of the policies and procedures relevant to federal, state, and local compliance intended for employee safety and health. Conducts new employee interviews, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team and coordinates new hire orientation, precepting, and education for members of the EHS team. Resource consultant for guidance, facilitation, planning and the administration of safety training conducted by Occupational Health Services. Develops and maintains partnership with organization leaders to act as a compliance resource for providing interpretation of policies, procedures, and legal regulatory requirements. Assists in oversight of federal, state and local requirements for regulatory reporting, ensures compliance and timeliness of reporting, and required permits are applicable regarding hazardous materials, air, pressure vessel testing, and waste disposal for the system. Provides guidance to and facilitation for occupational and environmental safety measures designed to reduce workplace injuries and exposures for all Sentara entities.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Safety is preferred. 5 years' related experience required in lieu of degree. Must be able to attain degree within 5 years upon hire.
