Position Summary The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role will oversee Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management, safety training, environmental compliance, and alignment with
ISO 14000
environmental management standards, with particular focus on chemical handling within the Paint Department. The EHS Manager will support all plant operations including welding, painting, assembly, press operations, and laser cutting. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Safety Programs Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA). Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses across all departments. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions. SDS & Chemical Management Maintain and update all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with Hazard Communication standards. Oversee chemical inventory and ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling. Work closely with the Paint Department to ensure compliance with chemical safety and environmental regulations. Environmental Compliance & ISO 14000 Alignment Develop and maintain environmental management systems in alignment with
ISO 14000
standards. Monitor and manage environmental programs including waste disposal, air emissions, and spill prevention. Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting requirements. Coordinate with external agencies and auditors as needed. Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental performance. Training & Development Develop and deliver safety and environmental training programs for all employees (new hire orientation, annual training, job-specific training). Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. Maintain accurate training records. Operational Support Partner with production teams (welding, paint, assembly, press, laser) to ensure safe and environmentally responsible work practices. Evaluate equipment and processes for safety and environmental improvements. Lead safety and environmental committees and employee engagement initiatives. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree, Certifications or Work Experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field preferred. 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with paint systems, chemical handling, and industrial processes strongly preferred. Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Hazard Communication standards. Experience with
ISO 14000
environmental management systems and audits. Familiarity with welding, paint booths, press machinery, and laser operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Certifications (Preferred) CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
HAZWOPER
certification First Aid/CPR certification Working Conditions Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, and heavy equipment. Must be able to walk the production floor regularly and conduct inspections. Occasional lifting, standing, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
