SAFETY:
SITE EH&S LEAD
This position will support our contract work activities at the Oconee Nuclear Power Plant site in Seneca, SC. Responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering safety, health, environmental protection, and substance abuse prevention programs affecting employee and public safety, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection. Typical Responsibilities and Commitments Serves as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and illnesses. Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state and/or company environmental, safety, and health regulations. Keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety, and health standards of the company and all applicable codes are followed. Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives. Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence, and procedures manuals. Establishes and maintains licenses and permits as required. Meet applicable regulatory codes and standards where required. Corresponds with internal and external contacts. Internal contacts may include site management, assigned EHS Manager, workers compensation personnel, and other operations and functional counterparts. External contacts include clients at work locations and regulatory agencies. Exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of their EHS specialty. Under close supervision, assists in the application and enforcement of company and project standards and regulations. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Some work is routine and instructions are detailed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus. Promotes teamwork; coaches and guides others. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Applies knowledge and skills to complete own work. Understands relationships between work processes and the business. Monitors and controls costs within own work. Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations. Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to non-standard requests. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline. Works independently with minimal guidance. Usually determines own work priorities. Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for short-term work activities in own area.
Qualifications Education:
College degree is preferred but may be waived if the particular position allows for the acceptance of 6 years or more experience, relevant training and education and is approved by the EHS Manager or Director.
Years of Experience:
Typically has 2-10 years relevant experience. Must have experience in an operating nuclear power plant.
Certifications:
CHST/OHST
Preferred Other:
Demonstrated ability to work with craft leadership where applicable (closed shop & open shop positions). Requires experience in the EHS field or a closely related field, or equivalent prior training.
Badge Requirement:
Will need to meet all training, drug/alcohol, and background screening elements required to obtain unescorted access at a nuclear power plant. In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $54,000 - $154,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and other factors. We care about our employees and it shows. Physical/Mental Requirements Must have visual acuity to perform tasks, and ability to stand, balance, stoop, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, pull/push, perform repetitive motions, grasp/manual dexterity, hear, talk, wear a mask/respirator, and withstand environmental conditions, etc., to perform this assignment. Must also have capacity to think, concentrate and focus over long periods of time, ability to read and write complex documents in English, reason and make sound decisions, and express thoughts orally.
