Description:
The Safety Technician supports the implementation and maintenance of the plant's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. This role assists in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and safe work practices. The Safety Technician works closely with safety specialists, production personnel, supervisors, and management to identify hazards, prevent injuries, and promote a strong safety culture throughout the facility. Safety Inspections and Hazard Identification Conduct & document routine plant safety inspections of production areas, yard operations, maintenance shops, and mobile equipment to identify unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, and regulatory compliance gaps. Bring awareness of findings to plant leadership. Support environmental compliance activities as assigned. Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents Reinforce safe work practices and proper PPE usage on the production floor Assist in maintaining safety files, training records, inspection logs, and compliance documentation.
Inspect safety equipment such as:
Fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, emergency equipment, and fall protection equipment Education High School Diploma or GED required Experience Entry-level position: 1-2 years of safety experience preferred but not required Manufacturing, construction, or industrial experience preferred Required Skills and Competencies Basic knowledge of workplace safety principles Strong attention to detail Good observation skills Strong communication skills Ability to recognize hazards Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, email) Ability to maintain confidentiality Time spent in office is approximately 50% and time spent in plant/field is 50%.
