Position Summary The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day implementation of safety, health, and environmental programs at an active project logistics and heavy haul site. This role works closely with operations, warehouse, and field personnel to identify hazards, enforce safety standards, conduct training, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policy. The ideal candidate is comfortable in an active warehouse/yard environment, and is confident engaging directly with equipment operators, drivers, and crews. Has a dotted-line reporting relationship to HQ to ensure Health & Safety remains a priority and isn't overshadowed by operations. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine safety inspections of the worksite, warehouse, yard, and equipment; document findings and track corrective actions to closure Monitor daily operations for compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety plans Support safe operation practices around warehouse equipment including forklifts, manlifts (aerial/scissor lifts), overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment Observe and support safe loading/unloading procedures for heavy haul trucks and specialized transport equipment Assist in the investigation of incidents, near-misses, and property damage; prepare incident reports and support root cause analysis Facilitate new-hire safety orientations and ongoing toolbox talks/safety meetings Track and maintain certifications for site personnel (forklift, aerial lift, rigging/signaling, etc.) Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), hazard communication program materials, and required OSHA postings/logs (e.g., OSHA 300/300A) Monitor environmental compliance items relevant to the site (stormwater, spill prevention, waste handling) as applicable Respond to and help coordinate first aid/medical emergencies on-site Support emergency preparedness planning, including severe weather protocols, evacuation drills, and heat/cold stress management Maintain PPE inventory and enforce proper PPE usage across the site Assist with client, insurance carrier, or regulatory safety audits and site visits Prepare regular safety metrics/reporting for site and corporate leadership Perform other duties as assigned Working Environment & Physical Requirements This is a site-based position requiring daily on-site presence — not remote or hybrid Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including warehouse, yard, and active loading/unloading areas Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions , including high heat, cold, rain, and humidity, for extended periods Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods across uneven or industrial terrain Must be comfortable working in proximity to heavy equipment, running machinery, and truck traffic Some early morning and evening availability may be required to support site operations and shipment schedules - site currently operates six days per week. Occasional travel between company sites will be required, especially during new site start-up Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a safety-related role within warehousing, logistics, construction, industrial, or transportation environments Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) and/or Construction (29 CFR 1926) standards Hands-on familiarity with warehouse equipment hazards — forklifts, manlifts/aerial lifts, dock equipment Understanding of safe practices for loading, unloading, and securing loads on heavy haul/oversized trucks Strong observational skills and comfort addressing unsafe conditions or behaviors directly with crews Solid written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare clear incident reports and training materials Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with EHS software a plus Certifications Required (or ability to obtain within a defined period after hire) OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification (OSHA 10 minimum to start, OSHA 30 required) CPR/First Aid/AED certification Forklift Train-the-Trainer certification (or willingness to obtain) Aerial/Scissor Lift Train-the-Trainer certification (or willingness to obtain) Preferred Qualifications Experience in project logistics, heavy haul trucking, or specialized transport Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or OHST certification

Pay:

$53,203.02 - $64,072.45 per year
