In this vital role, you will support the implementation and daily maintenance of the plant's EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) programs on the 3rd shift. This is a dynamic role where you will spend approximately 50% of your time in a professional office environment and 50% out on the production floor and yard . You will work closely with safety specialists, supervisors, and production personnel to identify hazards, reinforce proper PPE usage, and ensure a secure working environment for the overnight crew.•Safety Technician Primary Responsibilities include: Your main responsibility is to assist in maintaining plant compliance with regulatory standards and actively support a zero-injury workplace culture on the shift.
Safety Inspections:
Conduct and document routine plant inspections across production areas, yard operations, maintenance shops, and mobile equipment to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Equipment Audits:
Perform regular inspections on critical emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and fall protection gear.
Incident Investigation:
Assist in gathering facts, conducting interviews, and documenting findings for workplace incidents, near-misses, or property damage to help determine root causes.
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain precise safety files, training records, inspection logs, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with OSHA standards.
Training & Engagement:
Assist with employee safety orientations, facilitate toolbox talks, and actively reinforce proper PPE compliance on the manufacturing floor.
Safety Committee:
Actively participate in safety committee meetings and bring awareness of field findings directly to plant leadership.
Safety Technician Requirements include:
Experience:
Entry-level opportunity! 1-2 years of safety experience is preferred but not required . Experience working in a manufacturing, construction, or heavy industrial environment is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email) to manage safety logs and digital records.
Core Competencies:
Strong observational skills, a basic knowledge of workplace safety principles, and the absolute ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Communication:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to professionally interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Physical Capability:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, climb ladders to access elevated areas, and walk extensively throughout the plant and outdoor yard.
Environmental Comfort:
Must be comfortable working in varying outdoor weather conditions and indoor production environments that include noise, dirt, heat, and cold.
PPE Requirements:
Ability to continuously wear required safety gear, including a hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.•Join Us.
