About Dawson ISD:
Dawson Independent School District is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. We are seeking a dedicated and proactive District Safety Officer / School Safety Coordinator to lead district-wide safety initiatives, emergency preparedness efforts, and campus security programs.
Position Overview:
The District Safety Officer / School Safety Coordinator will provide leadership and coordination for district-wide safety and security initiatives. This position will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of school safety programs, emergency preparedness plans, threat prevention strategies, and campus security measures. The successful candidate may also serve as a School Marshal in accordance with Texas Education Code §37.0811 and Dawson ISD Board Policy when designated by the Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety and Security
  • Assist with the implementation of district safety and security programs
  • Conduct campus safety inspections and security assessments
  • Monitor compliance with district safety procedures and emergency operations plans
  • Coordinate safety drills and emergency preparedness activities
  • Assist with threat assessment and crisis response activities
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and community partners Training and Compliance
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation
  • Assist with required state safety audits and reporting
  • Participate in professional development related to school safety and emergency management
  • Provide safety-related training and guidance to district staff as needed
