Job Description

Overview Heavy Highway Construction company in South Texas is hiring an experienced Field Safety Representative. We have construction projects all over the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas. The Field Safety Representative assists the Safety Department in implementing the Company safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. Duties & Responsibilities Assists the Superintendents/Foremen by suggesting safe work practices as part of preplanning and training; establishes jobsite safety procedures. Conducts comprehensive on-site safety assessments as part of constant monitoring process. Documents all safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities; ensures corrective measures are immediately implemented; follow through to insure corrections have been made. Communicates constantly with the Superintendents, Foremen and craft workers in the crew as it relates to both good and bad safety practices that are observed. Educates project personnel through "on-the-spot" training. Completes Accident Reporting and Investigation, as needed; may accompany an injured employee for treatment and medical evaluation. Orients all project employees to the safety practices required on the project and by the Company. Performs role of "competent person" on project. Coordinates project safety programs with subcontractors. Assists the Superintendent in investigating property damage and personal injury complaints. Assists in arranging for basic first aid training for jobsite personnel. Assists in developing the job specific Emergency Management Plan and communicating through orientation to all project personnel. Ensures compliance with contractual obligations, if applicable. Ensures company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently. Assists in developing and continually improving the effectiveness of the department's procedures. Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values and goals. Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Performs additional assignments as directed by the Safety Director. Education & Experience Five years' previous experience in construction safety and progressive supervision/ management experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay:
$65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
