02/12/2026 Department / Business Unit Executive Reports To Safety Director FLSA Status Exempt Compensation Salary•Based on Merit Position Summary The Designated Safety Representative (DSR) supports and enforces GNS Electric, Inc.'s safety program across all electrical construction projects. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and
NFPA 70E
standards, promotes hazard awareness specific to electrical work, and reinforces the company's core values of dedication, integrity, responsiveness, and quality. The DSR serves as a visible safety leader responsible for fostering a culture in which every employee takes ownership of safe work practices. Primary Responsibilities Including, but not limited to: Oversee daily field operations and provide additional training to address gaps in day-to-day jobsite safety activities. Ensure supervisors and foremen understand and fulfill their safety responsibilities on each jobsite. Verify compliance with electrical safety procedures, including: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Energized Work Permitting Arc Flash Boundaries Grounding and Bonding GFCI requirements Confirm proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including: Arc-rated clothing Gloves Face shields Grounding equipment Observe installation practices for conduit, switchgear, panelboards, terminations, and overhead/underground electrical work to ensure safe methods are followed. Identify and address exposure risks such as: Energized components Improper tool usage Temporary power hazards Trenching around electrical utilities Correct and document hazards immediately, including all corrective actions taken. Ensure extension cords, cord reels, ladders, and electrical tools comply with jobsite safety standards. Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) with foremen prior to beginning work. Maintain site-specific safety plans and assist with customer-required safety documentation.
Maintain records of:
SDS documentation Equipment inspections Training logs Safety audits on the GNS server Conduct toolbox talks focused on: Electrical hazards Task-specific risks Seasonal safety concerns Lead new employee safety orientation with emphasis on GNS Electric values and electrical safety expectations. Implement, review, and approve project-specific safety requirements, including compliance with General Contractor (GC) site-specific safety plans. Implement, review, and approve: Monthly safety stand-downs Weekly toolbox topics Daily JHAs for all projects Notify General Contractors and customers in writing of safety observations or violations as required. Report safety issues, corrective actions, and outcomes to the Executive Management Team and Operations Management Team. Perform daily jobsite walkthroughs and provide written safety status reports to the Safety Director and Operations Management Team. Evaluate and implement improved safety processes and technologies in collaboration with management. Attend safety meetings with General Contractors. Perform additional duties as assigned. Travel Requirements Up to 100% travel may be required depending on project assignments. Physical Strength Requirements Lifting / Carrying Requirements Employee must be able to: Lift up to 25-50 lbs occasionally Push/pull materials and equipment as required Carry and hold equipment safely Movement Requirements Manipulation may include: Ground to waist Waist to shoulder Waist-level handling Climbing Requirements Must be able to safely use: Step stools 8•10' ladders Extension ladders Stairways and multiple flights of stairs Standing / Sitting / Walking Employee may be required to: Stand for extended periods Sit for extended periods Walk continuously throughout jobsites Work on both flat and rough terrain Stooping / Kneeling / Crawling Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and crawling may be required throughout the workday.
Reaching / Handling
Frequent reaching, handling, fingering, and operation of tools and equipment are required.

Numerical Skills Ability to perform accurate calculations manually and with calculators or measurement devices Spatial Abilities Ability to interpret blueprints and visualize two•and three-dimensional layouts Motor & Finger Dexterity Employee must be able to: Use telephones, radios, computers, calculators, and office equipment Operate hand and power tools Perform significant computer and electronic data entry Manipulate small objects and electrical wiring accurately Work Environment Work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions Utilize construction site sanitary facilities Work in restricted spaces, including: Switchgear rooms Manholes Utility tunnels Crawl spaces Attics Wear required PPE at all times, including hard hats, safety glasses, and respirators when necessary Work 50+ hours per week, including weekends as required Begin workdays as early as 6:00 a.m. Work in noisy environments
