Description :
Assists with various safety trainings. Verifies, tests and/or coordinates certification of safety equipment in University of Houston buildings. Maintains detailed records of all equipment testing, populate departmental database, assists with various Occupational Safety assessments, and supports other EHS discipline-specific areas. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. 1. Assists with safety training for faculty, staff and students. 2. Assesses facilities, work areas and equipment to include but not limited to verifying campus fume hood functionalities and testing safety showers and eye washes on campus. 3. Coordinates and verifies biosafety cabinet certifications. 4. Populates departmental database and generates reports as needed. 5. May provide support services to handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, as needed. 6. Performs respiratory fit-testing. 7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ:
Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
