Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Kitchen Hood Suppression & Fire Extinguisher Technician and become a vital part of ensuring safety and compliance in commercial kitchens and food service establishments. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and installing fire suppression systems specifically designed for kitchen hoods, as well as servicing portable fire extinguishers. Your expertise will help protect property, lives, and uphold industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge fire safety technology while providing exceptional customer service and technical solutions. We are looking for someone who already understands the work and can take ownership of a service route—perform inspections, troubleshoot deficiencies, make repairs, communicate professionally with customers, and complete accurate documentation without needing constant supervision. If you take pride in doing the job correctly, understand the importance of code-compliant fire protection work, and want an opportunity to grow with an established fire and life-safety company, we want to talk with you. What You'll Do Inspect, test, service, maintain, and repair commercial kitchen fire suppression systems. Inspect, service, recharge, repair, replace, and install portable fire extinguishers. Test control heads, cylinders, detection systems, fusible links, nozzles, manual pull stations, alarms, and fuel or electrical shutoffs. Troubleshoot system deficiencies and determine appropriate repairs. Install and replace suppression system components in accordance with manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, and company standards. Clearly communicate deficiencies and recommended repairs to customers. Complete inspection reports, service tickets, deficiency reports, tags, and other required documentation accurately and on time. Maintain accurate extinguisher inventory and service records. Keep assigned tools, equipment, materials, and company vehicle organized and in good working condition. Communicate professionally with restaurant managers, property managers, contractors, inspectors, and other customers. Manage your daily service schedule and assigned work with minimal supervision. Assist with emergency and after-hours service when required. What We're Looking For Previous hands-on experience with commercial kitchen hood suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers . Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills. Working knowledge of kitchen suppression inspection, service, repair, and installation procedures. Familiarity with systems manufactured by ANSUL, Amerex, Buckeye, Pyro-Chem, Range Guard, Badger , or similar manufacturers. Ability to identify deficiencies and determine the appropriate corrective action. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned customers and service work. Professional appearance and strong customer-service skills. Ability to accurately complete electronic inspection and service documentation. Comfortable using mobile applications, email, tablets, and electronic reporting systems. Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements. Ability to safely use ladders and hand tools and lift or carry equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds. Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area. Skills Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, electrical blueprints, and construction inspection documents. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using power tools and hand tools for installation and repairs. Familiarity with proprietary fire alarm control panels, fire alarm systems maintenance, and alarm system sales processes. Knowledge of fire codes, NFPA standards, building code compliance, sprinkler systems, sensors, and fire sprinkler fitting techniques. Experience with low voltage electrical wiring, electrical troubleshooting, and electrical work following NEC guidelines. Ability to interpret engineering troubleshooting data related to fire suppression systems; excellent problem-solving skills. Customer service-oriented mindset with effective communication skills for client interactions; capable of explaining technical details clearly. Experience working in the field performing construction inspections or system design tasks; comfortable working with schematics and CAD software. Licensing & Certifications Candidates should possess the appropriate Texas fire extinguisher and/or kitchen suppression license for the work being performed. An FEL-K, FEL-A, EPL, or other applicable Texas license , along with manufacturer certifications, is strongly preferred. Candidates with substantial industry experience who are eligible to obtain the required licensing may also be considered. Manufacturer certifications are a plus. The Person We're Looking For We aren't looking for someone who simply checks boxes on an inspection form. We want a technician who understands the systems, recognizes when something isn't right, can troubleshoot the problem, communicates clearly with the customer, and follows the work through to completion. Our customers rely on us to protect their employees, customers, facilities, and businesses. Quality workmanship, integrity, accurate documentation, dependable attendance, and personal accountability are essential. If you are an experienced kitchen suppression and extinguisher technician looking for a company where you can take ownership of your work and continue growing professionally, we encourage you to apply. Trinity Fire & Technology is an equal-opportunity employer. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, experience, performance, and legitimate business needs.
