Job Description

Alarm SuperintendentPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Alarm Superintendent to lead field operations for fire and life-safety alarm systems. The Alarm Superintendent will oversee installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of fire alarm systems across multiple projects, ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, manage field crews and subcontractors, and serve as the primary technical and operational point of contact for clients and authorities having jurisdiction.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate installation teams and subcontractors for fire alarm system projects, ensuring work is completed on schedule and within budget.

Plan, schedule, and prioritize daily field activities, allocate resources, and manage multiple job sites simultaneously.

Conduct and oversee inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of fire alarm systems in accordance with project specifications and NFPA 72.Ensure all installation and testing activities comply with local, state, and national codes and standards; coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for inspections and approvals.

Perform quality control checks and maintain accurate as-built documentation, test reports, inspection records, and project closeout packages.

Train, mentor, and evaluate field technicians; enforce safety procedures and ensure adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, general contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues and change orders.

Manage inventory, equipment, and material orders for field operations; inspect incoming materials for compliance with specifications.

Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, track labor and equipment costs, and assist with project budgeting and forecasting.

QualificationsMinimum 5+ years of field experience with fire alarm systems, including installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning.

Proven supervisory or superintendent experience leading field crews and subcontractors on medium to large scale projects.

Hands-on experience with fire alarm brands and components; strong troubleshooting and system integration skills.

Familiarity with NFPA 72, local fire codes, and permitting/inspection processes; NICET certification (Level II or III preferred) is highly desirable.

Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills; able to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including AHJs and general contractors.

Proficiency with basic reporting tools, mobile field apps, and Microsoft Office; experience with maintenance/inspection software a plus.

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
