Job Description:
This role supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and environmental programs, coordinates training, conducts audits, and assists with regulatory compliance to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The position works closely with Operations and HR to promote safety awareness, support new hire onboarding, and ensure compliance with federal and state EH&S regulations.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Occasional evenings and weekends may be required based on operational needs. Key Responsibilities Support day-to-day administration of EH&S programs, including accident reports, referrals, and general safety-related inquiries; route issues to appropriate team members as needed. Identify safety training needs and assist in developing and coordinating safety training programs, including new hire onboarding, toolbox talks, and refresher training. Participate in new machinery, equipment, and process reviews, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), operator training, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Promote safety and health awareness through internal communications, training materials, and plant-level initiatives. Coordinate fire prevention programs, hot work permits, contractor safety requirements, and site safety orientation. Conduct plant safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations. Track and monitor lost-time injuries, illnesses, near misses, and workers' compensation claims. Support environmental compliance activities, including confined space access control and adherence to environmental policies. Maintain hazardous material inventories and Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS). Coordinate with external agencies and regulatory bodies for permits, inspections, and authorizations when required. Assist with recordkeeping, data entry, and reporting related to EH&S metrics and compliance documentation. Qualifications & Requirements Prior EH&S experience in paper and plastic manufacturing environments Perferred. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations; OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 preferred) . 2-4 years expierence in industrial Eviornmental Health and Safety Required . Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including: Excel Word PDF management Strong data entry and basic typing skills. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Work Environment This position operates in both a professional office environment and on the plant floor. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing systems. While performing plant-related duties, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and elevated noise levels. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
COMPENSATION
Up to $68,000 DOE + Health/Dental/Vision benefits available after passing three-month probation period. 401(k) available after first year.
