Job Description
Site Safety & Health Specialist (SSHS) Job Overview The Site Safety & Health Specialist (SSHS) is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining safety and health programs at active project sites. The SSHS ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, identifies hazards, recommends corrective actions, and conducts training to promote a safe working environment. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and oversee site-specific safety and health plans. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions, practices, and hazards. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations. Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis; prepare detailed reports. Organize and deliver safety training sessions for site personnel. Advise project management on safety risks and mitigation strategies. Maintain accurate safety records, logs, and documentation. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers on safety procedures and standards. Promote a culture of safety and health through regular communication and engagement. Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, or related field, OR equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience in construction, industrial, or environmental safety. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations. Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CSP, CIH, CHST, or equivalent). Demonstrated experience in accident investigation and reporting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related discipline. Previous SSHS experience in construction, remediation, or government projects. Additional certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER). Experience with federal government or military contracts.
