Job Summary:
The Environmental & Safety (E&S) Specialist is a key contributor to building and sustaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace across all local facilities. This role supports the EHS Manager in implementing and maintaining safety and environmental programs while driving day-to-day execution, conducting inspections, leading training sessions, and fostering a strong safety culture. The Specialist serves as a visible, hands-on partner for operations teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating risk, and continuously improving EHS performance.Key Responsibilities:
Act as a visible presence on the manufacturing floor, engaging with teams to promote a safe working environment. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs aligned with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and company standards. Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs), and communicate findings with leadership. Lead or support hot work permits, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and working-at-heights programs, including inspections, documentation, and training. Coordinate and deliver operator training for forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes; maintain training records. Participate in incident investigations, perform initial root cause analysis, and support corrective action follow-up. Track, analyze, and report EH&S metrics, including near-misses, incidents, and compliance trends, to support continuous improvement. Assist with environmental compliance tasks, including hazardous waste management, container labeling, inspections, and regulatory reporting. Support air permits, stormwater, SPCC, and water discharge compliance programs; maintain required documentation. Participate in spill response preparedness, emergency drills, and business continuity planning. Partner with supervisors and employees to identify improvement opportunities and reduce workplace risk. Promote sustainability initiatives, including recycling, energy efficiency, and waste reduction efforts. Support audit readiness for internal and external regulatory inspections.Requirements:
Qualifications:
Required Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field (or equivalent experience). OSHA 30 (General Industry) certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months. 5+ years' experience in quality management. Preferred 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing with exposure to high-risk processes (hot work, heavy machinery, hazardous materials). Authorized trainer credentials in Forklift, Aerial Lift, or Overhead Crane Safety. Experience supporting environmental compliance (waste management, SPCC, stormwater, air permitting).Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state/local regulations. Strong observational and risk assessment skills. Proficiency in incident investigation, documentation, and reporting. Effective communicator, able to influence coach peers. Data-driven mindset with ability to analyze safety performance metrics. Time management and prioritization skills with a sense of urgency.
