$25.3000 per hour - Depending on Qualifications Grant Funded Position - Position Dependent on Availability of Grant Funding On-Site Position The City of Waco Seeks Are you passionate about public health and environmental safety? The Health Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sanitarian to join our team! Minimum Qualifications RequiredBachelor's Degree in Public Health, Science, or a related field.Must have a minimum of 30 hours of Natural and Applied Science. 6 months of inspection experience including but not limited to food, health, or safety inspection. Additional education can be substituted for the required experience. Registered Sanitarian from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is required within 2 years of hire date.
Sanitarian Registration requires 4 year Bachelor's Degree with 30 hours of Natural and Applied Science. Please attach a copy of your unofficial transcripts to confirm coursework requirements. Valid Texas Driver's License. Position Overview Under basic supervision, performs environmental health inspections for the Public Health District (PHD); protects the health and safety of the public from adverse environmental determinants. Essential FunctionsPerforms environmental health inspections and investigates complaints to verify compliance with state and local regulations; scope of work includes food quality and safety, wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, air quality, water quality, insect and animal vector control, recreational and institutional facility inspections, consumer health and occupational health and safety. Organizes and presents training programs; applies and enforces statutes, regulations, ordinances and policies governing environmental health; prepares summary and status reports; assures that the services provided meet the program requirements. Operate a City-assigned vehicle equipped with health inspection instruments, and protective equipment to conduct onsite visits and health and safety inspections, collect field data and samples, and ensure compliance with public health regulations across various facilities and locations throughout Waco McLennan County. May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City wide emergency.
