Job Description

Our client is seeking a skilled Kitchen Suppression Technician to support and lead field service operations across the DMV region. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional experienced in servicing and maintaining pre-engineered kitchen fire suppression systems in commercial environments. The technician will manage a daily service route, working with restaurants, institutional facilities, and other commercial kitchens to ensure fire protection systems remain compliant, functional, and inspection-ready. This role also includes cross-functional work with fire extinguishers and emergency lighting systems. Key Responsibilities Inspections & Code Compliance Conduct scheduled inspections of commercial kitchen fire suppression systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards Evaluate system readiness, including nozzle alignment, fusible link condition, agent levels, and activation components Identify deficiencies such as improper coverage, system obstructions, or missing components and clearly document findings Verify proper operation of fuel and electrical shutoff integrations tied to suppression systems Service & Preventative Maintenance Perform routine servicing, including replacement of fusible links, discharge components, and suppression agents Execute functional testing to confirm system performance and ensure proper reset after service completion Coordinate system shutdowns and reactivation with on-site personnel to minimize operational disruption Repairs & Diagnostics Troubleshoot and repair system issues including discharge events, mechanical failures, and activation malfunctions Diagnose electrical and control-related issues affecting system performance Respond to urgent service calls and restore systems to compliant working condition in a timely manner Fire Protection Equipment Support Inspect, service, and maintain portable fire extinguishers in accordance with regulatory standards Assist with installation and inspection of emergency lighting and exit signage systems Identify and report electrical or system deficiencies requiring further action Documentation & Client Interaction Maintain accurate service records and inspection reports for compliance and audit purposes Communicate findings, required repairs, and timelines clearly with site contacts and facility managers Escalate complex issues and recurring deficiencies to internal leadership as needed Field Operations Manage a structured daily route across the DMV territory Represent the client professionally at all job sites Participate in an on-call rotation to support emergency service needs Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience working with commercial kitchen fire suppression systems Familiarity with applicable NFPA standards (including kitchen suppression and fire extinguishers) Experience with major suppression system brands such as ANSUL, Kidde, Pyro-Chem, Range Guard, or similar Strong mechanical aptitude with basic electrical troubleshooting capabilities Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety and compliance Effective communication skills in customer-facing environments Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally within the service area Industry certifications (ICC, NAFED, or equivalent) are a plus; support for certification may be provided Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation based on experience Overtime and premium pay for after-hours and emergency service calls Holiday premium pay structure for on-call work Ongoing training and professional development opportunities, including certification support Why Join This Opportunity Join a growing operation with strong demand across a multi-state territory Opportunity to take ownership of your service route and build long-term client relationships Work within a structured, process-driven environment focused on quality and consistency Long-term growth potential as the organization expands its regional footprint Equal Opportunity Statement Our client is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to protected status in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
