Boyd Company is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist who will be responsible for overseeing and administering company policies, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations and programs. Responsibilities to include planning, developing and coordinating procedures for Boyd facilities and operations to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations for environmental health and safety.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety or equivalent experience Board of Certified Safety Professionals Credential (ASP/CSP/CIH) preferred 3 - 5 years' experience in workplace environmental health and safety management systems Strong problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a results-focused approach Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response 40-hour course and 8-hour annual recertification OSHA Regulatory courses in accordance with company environmental, health, and safety training program Highly self-directed with strong leadership and change management skills; good written and verbal communication skills Able to communicate with team members and customers Good working knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, word processing programs Ability to work independently or in a team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands Travel to branches or other locations as required to perform assigned duties, maintaining a valid driver's license Maintain a high degree of discretion in handling confidential/sensitive information and exercise initiative in all assigned areas, High integrity and accountability standards Assist work team to meet the objectives of the department and the Company Ability to operate a P.C. (Windows, Excel, Word)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops, plans, directs and coordinates activities of the company's environmental health and safety (EHS) program Develops, reviews and updated relevant policy and procedures Conduct periodic EHS audits and assessments for compliance with Company, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulations. Identify deficiencies and assist site management with implementing corrective action plans. Identify EHS training needs throughout the Company and develop the necessary programs to ensure compliance with Company, Federal, Station and Local safety and environmental regulations Support the reporting and investigation of incidents for all Company locations. Ensure corrective actions are appropriate and completed in a reasonable timeframe Ensure company facilities regulatory and internal reporting is submitted on time, is accurate and reproducible. Monitor site metrics and implement programs to address undesirable trends. Research applicable state and federal regulations and report on changes that may affect operations Organize and conduct related EHS training for employees Project a positive image by interacting with fellow employees, customers, officials, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner; display a professional attitude; comply with company dress code. Promote a culture of safety by following all work, safety rules, and procedures and ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state, and local regulations. Perform other duties as necessary and assigned to support the Departmental and Company goals and objectives.
