Princeton, WV Cleveland-Cliffs has an opportunity as a Health & Safety Specialist at Princeton Coal. Safety is at the core of everything we do. In this role, you will partner with operations, maintenance, preparation plant, loadout, and support teams to promote a strong safety culture, support employee well-being, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will have a direct impact on reducing risk, preventing incidents, improving workplace safety, and driving continuous improvement across the operation.Summary of Responsibilities :
Partner with employees and leaders to maintain a safe, productive, and compliant work environment. Support and administer health, safety, security, and industrial hygiene programs. Conduct field observations, workplace examinations, and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve safe work practices and reduce risk. Support the site Safety Team and employee safety initiatives. Assist with industrial hygiene monitoring, including dust, noise, and other occupational exposures. Help oversee emergency response preparedness, fire prevention programs, and safety equipment. Coordinate site security programs and initiatives. Support MSHA inspections, compliance activities, and citation management. Maintain training, inspection, incident, and compliance records. Support contractor safety programs and compliance efforts. Promote employee engagement, coaching, and safety awareness initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, influence positive change, and collaborate across teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze information and solve problems effectively. Strong attention to detail. Self-motivated with a positive attitude and ability to work independently. Excellent attendance and reliability. Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field. Two or more years of safety experience in mining, coal preparation, manufacturing, heavy industrial, or related environments. Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses. Experience delivering safety training and facilitating employee engagement programs. MSHA Certified Mine Foreman, Authorized Trainer, or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
