The Physical Environment and Security Manager leads the Physical Environment and Security department, oversees District-wide physical environment, security, and emergency management operations, supervises related employees and contractors, and participates at the department leader level of the organization. The Manager is responsible for the successful completion of regulatory surveys related to the physical environment and related areas of responsibility. The manager oversees physical security, access, and loss prevention, and emergency preparedness and incident management including development and maintenance of policies, procedures, standard work, staff education, tabletop drills, and community exercises. The Manager participates in the planning and management of facility repairs, replacement systems, and construction projects.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of physical environment compliance including planning, rounding, gap assessments, on-going support, and regulatory inspections. Ensures proper operations of physical security and loss prevention controls and procedures. Plans and manages comprehensive security functions including live rounding and response, alarm and video monitoring, and badge reader access. Plans and manages emergency planning and response efforts including development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and response manuals; training for all staff; conducting mock emergency drills and after event debriefs; and coordinating emergency planning efforts with local, state, and federal agencies. Plans for refinements and upgrades in physical environment, security, and related services. Collaborates with Finance and the CFO to analyze and manage costs including service and maintenance contracts, collaborative agreements, and new purchases. Actively participates in the planning and management of facility repairs and construction for both small- and large-scale projects. Collaborates with Finance and the CFO to budget for areas of responsibility. Supervises department staff. Plans and directs workflow and operations to facilitate consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations. Actively supports a positive workplace culture. Monitors the work performance of staff and provides timely feedback and performance management. Maintains effective employee and labor relations practices, including timely follow-up and resolution of concerns or issues. Ensures that policies and collective bargaining agreements are administered consistently and equitably. Responsible for operating company vehicles to travel to and from off-site district locations to maintain facilities, as needed. Other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience:
Associate s degree in emergency management, security, business or general management, or a related field. Bachelor s degree in one of these fields is preferred. In lieu of an associate s degree, a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in physical environment, security, or emergency management in a healthcare environment may be accepted. Five (5) years supervisory or leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams. Required Licenses, Certifications and/orRegistrations:
Valid Washington State driver s license. DNV Certified Healthcare Operations Professional Basic (CHOP-B) or AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification required within 18 months of employment. DNV Certified Healthcare Operations Professional Advance (CHOP-A) or AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification required within 3 years of employment.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to provide technical direction and support to physical environment and security operations personnel and vendors. Experience in physical environment surveys, security operations, and emergency management. Experience in effectively forecasting and tracking project costs. Coordination with outside contract work for physical security. Knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations with respect to the physical environment, security, and emergency management. Ability to develop and work to a schedule, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to cultivate working relationships with internal and external customers to understand their needs, respond quickly to their requests, and provide feedback in a timely manner. Work with employees in a union environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to schedule and work with a team of maintenance technicians, engineers, oversight, and management staff.
