Job Description:
Precision Private Security is hiring experienced, dependable, and professional Unarmed Security Screeners / Courthouse Security Officers for a courthouse security assignment in Clearlake, CA. This position is responsible for helping maintain the safety, security, and professional operation of a courthouse facility. Officers assigned to this post are expected to screen individuals entering the facility, monitor for prohibited items, provide visible deterrence, assist facility personnel, respond appropriately to incidents, and document activity accurately. Courthouse security requires professionalism, patience, attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to remain calm in a public-facing environment. This is not a passive post. Officers must be alert, respectful, consistent, and prepared to respond when needed. Precision Private Security is looking for officers who take pride in their uniform, understand the importance of access control, can follow written and verbal instructions, and can represent the company and client facility with professionalism at all times. Primary Responsibilities Security Screeners / Courthouse Security Officers may be responsible for: Screening individuals entering the facility for weapons, prohibited items, and other potentially dangerous or unauthorized items. Maintaining a visible and professional security presence at assigned screening points, entrances, public areas, and facility posts. Monitoring public and nonpublic areas, including entrances, lobbies, hallways, parking areas, stairways, exterior areas, and other assigned locations. Providing access control and helping ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas. Responding quickly and professionally to emergency and nonemergency situations. Assisting facility personnel, clients, visitors, and authorized staff as needed. Escorting individuals when directed by facility representatives or supervisors. Observing and reporting suspicious activity, safety hazards, disturbances, property damage, policy violations, or security concerns. Providing deterrence against crime, prohibited activity, unauthorized access, and disruptive conduct. Communicating with supervisors, facility representatives, dispatch, law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services when appropriate. Monitoring alarm systems, access control systems, security cameras, or other site security equipment if assigned. Patrolling designated areas in accordance with post orders and security procedures. Writing accurate, clear, professional, and complete incident reports, injury reports, event reports, and daily activity documentation. Following all post orders, client requirements, courthouse rules, company policies, and applicable laws. Maintaining a clean uniform, professional appearance, and calm command presence throughout the shift. Performing other securityrelated duties as directed by a supervisor, security lead, or facility representative. Minimum Requirements Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or GED preferred. Active California BSIS Guard Card required. Must provide a copy of current BSIS Guard Card. Must provide copies of all required training certificates. Must have completed BSISrequired training, including Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force. Must have completed or be able to provide documentation of the required 32 hours of BSISmandated security officer training. Must complete annual continuing education/refresher training as applicable. Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required or must be obtained as required by assignment. Valid governmentissued ID or valid driver's license required. Reliable transportation required. Must pass background screening consistent with California employment law. Must comply with company and client policies related to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vaping, impairment, safety, confidentiality, reporting, uniforms, and professional conduct. Must be available to work MondayFriday, 8:00 AM5:00 PM. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, carry items when needed, and remain alert for extended periods. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with visitors, facility staff, supervisors, law enforcement, emergency responders, and the public. Must be able to write accurate, factual, and legible reports. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must remain levelheaded and respond appropriately in stressful or fastmoving situations. Required Documentation Applicants should be prepared to provide copies of the following: Current BSIS Guard Card. Power to Arrest certificate. Appropriate Use of Force certificate. Certificates verifying completion of required BSIS training. Certificates verifying completion of the required 32 hours of BSISmandated security officer training. Annual continuing education/refresher training certificates, if applicable. Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Any additional securityrelated certifications, including baton, OC spray, deescalation, report writing, access control, courthouse security, or emergency response training. Valid governmentissued ID or driver's license. Failure to provide required documentation may delay or prevent consideration for this assignment. Preferred Qualifications The strongest candidates will have one or more of the following: At least 1 year of security experience. Prior courthouse, government facility, public agency, screening, access control, or institutional security experience. Experience screening persons entering secure facilities. Experience working around the public in a professional environment. Strong reportwriting skills. Deescalation or conflictresolution experience. First Aid, CPR, and AED certification already current. Current BSIS Baton Permit. OC spray certification. Prior military, law enforcement, corrections, public safety, or first responder experience. Bilingual ability, especially English/Spanish. Strong attendance history and reliability. Professional appearance and strong customerservice mindset. Ability to remain calm, respectful, and composed in highstress situations. Veterans, former law enforcement, first responders, and experienced security professionals are strongly encouraged to apply. Ideal Candidate The ideal courthouse security officer is professional, calm, alert, and detail-oriented. We are looking for officers who: Understand that courthouse security requires patience, consistency, and professionalism. Can interact respectfully with the public while still enforcing rules. Can screen individuals carefully and remain alert for prohibited items. Can maintain composure when dealing with frustrated, emotional, or difficult individuals. Can follow post orders and client procedures without shortcuts. Can communicate clearly with supervisors and facility staff. Can write clean, factual, and professional reports. Take pride in their uniform, appearance, and conduct. Understand that visibility, documentation, and good judgment are essential to the post. A strong officer does not need to act aggressive. A strong officer stays composed, observes carefully, communicates clearly, follows procedure, and knows when to escalate concerns. Training and Assignment Expectations Selected officers may be required to complete or maintain training related to: Courthouse screening procedures. Access control. Prohibited item identification. Emergency response procedures. Report writing. Deescalation and professional communication. Facility rules and post orders. Radio, phone, and dispatch communication. Incident response and documentation. Safety procedures. Useofforce policy and escalation standards. First Aid, CPR, and AED. All officers must follow Precision Private Security policies, client site rules, supervisor direction, and applicable laws at all times.
