JOB DESCRIPTION
The Public Safety Officer provides for the safety and security of Winterthur staff, guests, visitors, collections, and assets. Public Safety will provide guidance in a professional demeanor to bring all relevant situations to a resolution. They will respond to all emergencies, as well as assist in the de-escalation of conflicts on the Winterthur campus. As the first interaction a guest has with a Winterthur employee is often a member of the Public Safety Department, it is important that they provide a warm and welcoming demeanor to guests, visitors, and suppliers. We are hiring primarily for weekend shifts, as well as some evenings.
Compensation:
Starting at $15.25/hr. Room for advancement.

Variable, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays Responsibilities Respond to and investigate any type of incident involving the safety of staff, guests, assets, or propertyProvide first aid and/or CPR in the event of a medical emergency and provide guidance and physical assistance in the event of an emergency evacuation. Follow existing emergency procedures for evacuations due to any fire, flood emergency, or sudden and severe weather conditions that may ariseExhibit strong customer service skills during any situation, including responding to inquiries from guests, visitors, and suppliersMaintain vigilance for and take proactive steps to correct potentially hazardous situationsEnsure compliance with all policies and procedures governing people, vehicles, and property by all persons on Winterthur propertyMonitor the security of Winterthur via computerized security systemsGalleries—monitor 1st and 2nd floor Galleries and respond to emergencies that ariseMotor Patrol—patrol Winterthur grounds and required buildings and respond to emergencies that arise, including assisting in the evacuation of Museum, Gallery, and WingMain Gate—screen entry when not open to the public; greet and direct first time guests to Visitor Center; greet outside contractors and ensure proper direction or escort to destination; answer incoming calls and provide assistance as necessaryMuseum—Secure exterior doors as needed, respond to medical emergencies; respond, investigate, and complete written reports on injured guests and employees. Evening & Night—walk Museum Wing, Gallery, and Research Building to monitor exterior doors and check for safety issues
