21+ About the Role We are seeking experienced public safety and security professionals to join our team as Certified Safe School Officers. This is an opportunity for qualified professionals to use their law enforcement, security, military, corrections, or emergency response experience to help protect students, staff, and the school community. In this role, you will help maintain a safe and secure campus environment through proactive security, emergency preparedness, incident prevention, conflict resolution, and strong relationships with students and school personnel. FDLE-certified professionals and qualified current, retired, or former public safety and law enforcement professionals are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and enforce school safety and security procedures.
  • Maintain a visible security presence throughout the school campus.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, threats, and critical incidents.
  • Help prevent, de-escalate, and resolve conflicts.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff, administrators, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Support safety drills, emergency preparedness activities, and training sessions.
  • Prepare clear, accurate incident reports and required documentation.
  • Support school policies and procedures related to campus safety and security.
  • Remain prepared to respond to active threats and other emergency situations.
Qualifications / Requirements
Required
  • FDLE Certification.
  • At least 3 years of combined experience in one or more of the following: o Law Enforcement o School Security o Armed Security o Corrections o Military Service o Emergency Response
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Strong knowledge of public safety and security procedures.
  • Experience with emergency response and crisis management.
  • Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
  • Advanced firearms proficiency and tactical training.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate reports.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with students and school personnel.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully complete a drug screening in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Must successfully pass required psychological evaluations.
  • Must be able to work on-site.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must meet all applicable state, local, and school safety requirements. FDLE Certification Information FDLE-certified officers may be eligible to complete a one-day certification session through a Florida Sheriff's Office, subject to applicable requirements and approval.   • Starting pay: $26.00 per hour Equipment Candidates may be required to own or have access to standard duty equipment, depending on the position, including:
  • Firearm, when required for the position
  • Level III retention holster/duty belt
