Summary The Armed Security Officer plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, visitors, and guests. This position is responsible for responding promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including active threats and alarm activations, while enforcing institutional policies such as the weapons-free campus. The officer conducts regular security patrols, monitors surveillance systems, and investigates incidents to uphold safety standards. Additionally, the role involves assisting with calls for medical aid, managing sensitive situations like employee terminations and prisoner security, and providing exceptional customer service by supporting screening processes, access control, and visitor assistance. This position demands vigilance, sound judgment, and the ability to manage diverse security-related tasks with professionalism and care.
Ability to display proficiency with security equipment including firearm, taser and handcuffs.
Ability to use security technology systems including cameras, weapon detection, alarms, and access control.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of healthcare security procedures and patient privacy regulations (HIPAA).Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws governing security officers and the use of force including firearms.
Must be able to meet physical requirement associated with required training for certifications fitness assessment as required by the employer.
Must be able to pass a psychological screening as required by employer.
Must be able to pass an armed security officer assessment panel as required by employer.
Must be able to pass firearms qualification course as required by employer.
