Schedule:
16:00-00:00 | 5 shifts per week | 40 hours per week
Position:
Full-Time Unarmed Security Officer Excelsior Defense is seeking a professional, personable, and highly observant Unarmed Security Officer for a premier private marina and luxury waterfront community in Tampa. This is a unique security assignment requiring the right balance of security awareness, customer service, visibility, and relationship-building . We are looking for an officer who can become a familiar face and trusted security resource for the marina community —someone residents, boat owners, marina personnel, vendors, and guests recognize and feel comfortable approaching when assistance is needed. What This Post Looks Like This is an active patrol and surveillance assignment , not a traditional stationary security post. The officer will conduct recurring foot patrols throughout the marina, docks, waterfront walkways, access points, and other designated areas . Officers must be capable of walking the dock environment regularly and maintaining a consistent, visible security presence throughout the shift. Between patrols, the officer will have access to a designated security area where they may monitor the marina's camera system , complete reports, communicate with management, and take reasonable breaks. The officer may also conduct designated checks of nearby development/construction areas to identify unauthorized persons, suspicious vehicles, trespassing, damaged barriers, unsecured areas, dumping, safety concerns, or other unusual conditions. This position is about prevention and presence . The property is not being staffed because it is considered a high-crime environment. The objective is to provide the professional security presence expected within a premier waterfront community and help maintain that environment. Primary Responsibilities Conduct recurring foot patrols of marina docks, waterfront walkways, access points, and designated surrounding areas. Maintain a visible and approachable security presence throughout the shift. Monitor marina security cameras between physical patrols. Observe marina and dock activity and identify conditions that appear unusual or inconsistent with normal operations. Monitor for unauthorized persons, suspicious activity, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or unsecured areas. Conduct designated checks of nearby development/construction areas when directed. Become familiar with normal marina activity and build professional relationships with residents, boat owners, marina personnel, vendors, and authorized guests. Serve as an approachable security resource for the marina community . Complete GPS-supported digital patrol observations and Daily Activity Reports. Photograph and document conditions when appropriate. Immediately communicate significant security or safety concerns through the established chain of command. Maintain professional boundaries while providing courteous, hospitality-oriented service. Visibility & Community Presence The assigned officer will wear a professional Excelsior Defense uniform along with a high-visibility safety vest during designated patrol activities , making security easy to identify and locate throughout the marina. The security team may also utilize a dedicated marina security phone , allowing authorized members of the marina community and management to reach the on-duty officer when assistance is needed. We want the community to know their security officer—not simply see a different guard every day. Excelsior's objective is to maintain consistent personnel who learn the property, understand normal activity, recognize when something is out of place, and become trusted members of the property's daily operations. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must possess a valid Florida Class D Security Officer License , reliable transportation, strong written and verbal communication skills, professional appearance and demeanor, good situational awareness, and the ability to routinely conduct foot patrols in an outdoor marina environment throughout an eight-hour shift, with or without reasonable accommodation. Applicants must also be comfortable working around docks and waterfront areas and working outdoors in Florida weather conditions. Prior experience in security, military, law enforcement, hospitality, marinas, condominiums, HOAs, or upscale residential communities is preferred. Excelsior Defense is a veteran-owned security company established in 1999 with a force of more than 400 security professionals. Strong. Stable. Reliable.
