Job Description

Securitas is seeking a Port Security Officer to help protect people, cargo, and critical port infrastructure. In this field-based role, you will control access to terminals and restricted areas, patrol docks and perimeter zones, and monitor cameras and alarms for suspicious activity. You will verify IDs and credentials, support cargo screening, and respond to incidents in coordination with port authorities. Success in this position requires professionalism, vigilance, strong communication, and adherence to maritime and facility security procedures. Securitas offers training, certifications, and advancement opportunities in security. Responsibilities Control access to port facilities, terminals, and restricted areas Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of docks, warehouses, and perimeter areas Monitor security systems, alarms, and CCTV for suspicious activity Verify identification, credentials, and cargo documentation as required Enforce security and safety procedures in line with port and maritime regulations Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, coordinating with port authorities Prepare clear incident, activity, and daily shift reports Provide customer-service oriented assistance to port staff, visitors, and drivers Support inspections, security screenings, and cargo protection activities Participate in ongoing training, drills, and certification requirements Required Skills Access control and badge/credential verification Patrol techniques for port and industrial environments CCTV and alarm system monitoring Incident reporting and documentation Knowledge of basic maritime or port security procedures Emergency response and de-escalation skills Two-way radio and clear communication skills Basic computer and report-writing proficiency Customer service in security settings Situational awareness and threat detection
