Security Reports to: Loss Prevention SupervisorPOSITION SUMMARY
Security Guard is responsible for surveillance of employees and non-employees for potential security and safety concerns.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(responsibilities include, but are not limited to):- Maintain an alert and highly visible position at or near the main entrance in an effort to deter shoplifters, robberies, and other security problems.
- Present yourself in a professional manner, acknowledging customers entering and exiting the store
- Be aware of anyone entering the store with large bags, backpacks, etc.
- Will be responsible for checking all boxes that leave the store
- Will make floor checks when requested by the store management personnel
- Securing and watching the front door upon the stores closing of business for the day
- Check all large bags and boxes taken out of the store by employees
- Will report any safety hazards, suspicious persons or activities to the manager on duty
- Will maintain a log of incidents that occurred during your shift that will be signed and reviewed by management
- Will fill out an incident report on suspicious activities or security issues that will be forwarded to the Loss Prevention Department.
- Will be responsible for communicating all incidents to the management person on duty
- Understand and abide by all company policies and procedures
- Will assist management personnel in removing individuals behaving in an unacceptable manner (while intoxicated, rowdy, or threatening)
- Any tasks as deemed necessary by management in time of need or emergency
OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use proper safety procedures
- Able to multitask, listen to directions and follow through independently
- Able to remain calm in stressful and difficult situations.
- Able to work with a team and independently when needed
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
- High school / Secondary school diploma or GED
- State of Hawaii Guard Card
- Must be 18 years old or older
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Previous experience working in security or loss prevention in retain operations preferred
- Good communication and observation skills.
- Proficient in reading and writing in English
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind
- Very fast paced
