Job Description
REPORTS TO
AGM/GM =========================================================================== Weekend Security GaurdBASIC PURPOSE
To provide safety and security to employees and guests on the property, as well as providing overall operational support as needed.FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
SECURITY- Make frequent sweeps of all interior and exterior areas of the property, being observant of safety hazards, suspicious activity, and basic hotel operations.
- Have good working knowledge of shut off practices, fire panel operation and emergency procedures that are in place.
- Be familiar with and monitor surveillance equipment, CCTV cameras, and fire equipment.
- Respond to alarms, disturbance calls, and reported irregularities.
- Provide quick and concise support in the event of natural disasters, evacuations, guest occurrences or other emergency situation.
- When needed, provide security check-in for special events, meetings or conferences.
- Assist with inspections or searches of individuals or areas when and if the circumstances dictate.
- Secure and check doors, windows, and other entrances as needed and required, preventing losses and damage.
- File reports and logs when incidents and accidents occur, and provide assistance with investigations when and if needed.
- Maintain daily, clear, and concise communication with the General Manager or Asst. General Manager, using log sheets or checklists that may be provided.
- Report maintenance issues when observed, and attend to the issue immediately if able.
- Work with local authorities if and when their involvement is needed on the property, understanding that their direction supercedes those of the position.
AS OPERATIONAL AND PROPERTY SUPPORT
Individual must be willing to assist in the following areas when and if needed- Be observant of trash recepticles that may need to be attended to, and assist with removal. This applies to interior and external areas.
- In the absence of housekeeping personnel, or during times that require additional help, assist with items such as guest requests, cleaning needs in public areas, etc.
- In the absence of maintenance personnel, or during times that require additional help, assist with and attend to minor maintenance needs that may develop or that are reported by guests or hotel personnel
- Assist the Front Desk with guest needs, such as luggage assistance, directions to rooms, in-room needs or special requests.
- When needed, assist other departments and employees with any tasks requested by a supervisor or manager
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Education:
High school education or equivalent experienceExperience:
Experience with hotel security practices required Skills and Abilities- Ability to physically perform the tasks required of this position (listed above)
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, coworkers and guests clearly, professionally and concisely
- Ability to follow direction and work independently
- Ability to remain calm in all circumstances and provide clear and calm guidance to those around him/her
- A high level of awareness of surroundings and attention to detail.
- Ability to present oneself well, with a professional demeanor and speech which reflects well on the property
- Basic computer skills and report-writing abilities
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent sense of judgment and discretion Hours Required
- Scheduled days and times may vary based on need and/or direction of supervisor
- Flexibility in scheduling required, including weekends, night and holidays when needed
- Must adhere to the time and attendance policies set forth by the company
ENVIRONMENT
Physical Job Requirements Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying Position requires daily and frequent lifting/pushing/pulling & carrying of various items, including housekeeping and maintenance equipment and supplies, guest luggage, basic hotel supplies. This position may include the need to physically assist guests who may be experiencing medical emergencies. The ability to physically provide support is critical. Bending/Kneeling Position requires daily and frequent bending and kneeling during the course of a shift. This position may include the need to physically assist guests who may be experiencing medical emergencies. The ability to physically provide support is critical. Mobility Continuous movement throughout hotel for entire shift Continuous Standing/Walking Continuous standing and walking can be expected throughout shift Climbing Stairs Position will necessitate that employee climb stairsHearing/Vision/Speech:
- One-on-one communication with guests, supervisors and coworkers critical
- Must be able to receive and clearly understand the standards and expectations of housekeeping duties
- Must be able to visually identify areas needing attention and inspect those areas upon completion of task
- Must be polite and hospitable in all interactions with guests, supervisor and co-workers
Chemicals/Agents:
Use of Cleaning chemicals, aerosol sprays and other chemicals may be requiredProtective Clothing Type:
- Non-slip shoes are required
- Job may require back brace, gloves and other protective equipment, which is supplied
Equipment Operation:
- Basic housekeeping equipment when needed
- Radios and other communication devices
- Hotel phone systems and emergency communication systems
- Basic knowledge of Shut-off and suppression systems
