COMPENSATION
: $17.00/hour plus benefits (25/26 SY Starting Rate per CBA). •Please note that the hourly rate of pay is inclusive of the mandatory 4.5% retirement contribution to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED
High School Diploma or GED Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions. Ablity to monitor students Effective communication skills Proven ability to work well in a team Ability to use a hand-held stop sign, flashlight, two-way radio. Stamina to stand for long periods of time, mobility to escort students and visitors Ability to work out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to traffic Desired Qualifications /
Skills:
Experience working with adolescents Experience working with at-risk youth Bilingual (Spanish)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Dean's Assistant promotes student safety and building security by maintaining a high degree of visibility in assigned areas with students and/or visitors or other staff when assigned.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a high degree of courtesy and respect for students, staff and the public by: Interacting in a professional and controlled manner at all times Maintaining a personal code of respect for everyone in every encounter Remaining as neutral as possible in a dispute Reporting all incidents to supervisors so that a record of what transpired is available Dressing in an appropriate uniform as required by the school district Wearing all identification that is required by the administration at all times Provides emergency, fire drill and/or evacuation procedures when necessary by: Assisting injured or violated students or other persons in the school building Providing timely and appropriate emergency assistance toward injured or violated persons on the school campus Reporting violated or destroyed property on the school campus in a timely way Escorting and directing students during fire drill and other emergency procedure practices Assisting any other individuals during emergency procedures Provides a secure environment for students and staff by: Encouraging students to maintain order at all times Encouraging students to cooperate with staff at all times Assisting other staff when needed and appropriate in crowd control activities Assisting law enforcement officers on the campus when necessary Assists other staff in monitoring student behavior before, during and after school activities by: Monitoring regular & special needs buses Assists school-age children to cross public streets safely by directing and/or regulating vehicular and pedestrian traffic at specified intersections Watches for suspicious persons and/or vehicles that may prey upon young children Provides a safe adult presence that young children may go to when they need assistance while going to and from school Assisting with special needs student activities Informing staff of late buses Monitoring after-school areas during activities Notifying emergency personnel or police during an after-school activity when necessary Notifying the security team of violations or emergencies during after-school activities Enforces and observes all school district policies and state statutes at all times by: Maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations Managing disruptive student behavior in a professional manner at all times Reporting all incidents in a timely manner Reporting all incidents to supervisors for further action or law enforcement activity Writing all required reports, memos, or necessary communications Using all communication devices in a professional and timely manner Being aware of all confidentiality issues for students, staff, or parents Operating all security equipment in an appropriate way Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all school matters
