$40.57 Hourly Description The Fishers Police Department seeks certified Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier 1 graduates (or the equivalent) to join our growing School Resource Unit as a School Safety Officer in the City of Fishers. The selected person will be assigned to a specific school. This is a part time/seasonal position, and the selected individual will work the same schedule as the Hamilton Southeastern School District Calendar with the exception they will report to work the week before school starts for annual training. This is a non-exempt, hourly paid position that will be off work and unpaid for fall, Thanksgiving, winter, and spring school breaks, scheduled school days off, and summer break. Three personal days and up to six paid sick days will be allowed each school year (50% of each if hired for 2nd semester which is January - May). Examples of Duties Monitoring school activities on campus, including coordinating with school administration for police presence during school hours and after-hours school activities, events, and extra requests. Performing ongoing security checks of the campus and making recommendations to the school administrator. Monitoring traffic at the beginning and end of each school day and monitoring the school parking lot during the school day. Assisting school administration with disruptions, truancy issues, student issues, and any criminal activities occurring on campus. Taking immediate law enforcement action when necessary. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D.; 2+ years of full-time law enforcement experience, Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier 1 graduate (or equivalent); NASRO Basic School Resource Officer course (must be obtained within one year of employment); Driver's License required and ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle required. Supplemental Information Must have reliable transportation. Uniforms and equipment provided. Eligible for City of Fishers Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Plan, 457(b) plan with city match up to $3,000/year. Long term disability, life insurance, EAP program, and supplemental health insurance is available. Will be eligible to optionally work part-time security details available through Hamilton Southeastern Schools only. This role is NOT eligible for civilian PERF or 1977 Police Officers and Firefighters Pension Fund.
