We have an opening for a Safety and Security to work PRN (as needed). Lakeview's Safety and Security patrols and protects the entire Lakeview campus including assuring that all buildings and all areas of the campus are secured and properly lit. Maintain peace, security and safety; report writing; monitor and respond as first responders to all emergent or non-emergent calls by residents, employees or visitors on the Lakeview campus; represent the maintenance and housekeeping departments by answering after-hour emergency calls that are within knowledge and capabilities while on duty. Competitive pay Health, dental, and vision benefits Retirement plan with employer match Employee Assistance Program Fitness center and pool Job Duties and Responsibilities The primary responsibility of Safety/Security Officers is that of "First Responders" and, in emergency situations, to arrive as quickly as safely possible. Perform exterior security patrols of the Lakeview campus, both by vehicle and on foot, of all multistory buildings, Villas and Garden Cottages. Conduct checks of all doors on the first & lower-level floors of multi-story buildings, grounds building and maintenance buildings. Be sure exterior doors for the Child Development Center are secured. Check multi-story buildings hallways making sure they are well lit. Secure any doors found ajar. Independent Living Villas and Garden Cottages should be checked to assure that Independent Living resident garage doors are closed and close if found open. All Safety/Security Officers are required to learn the fire and security systems, Card Entry Computer, key making and management system, emergency call system, all Fire Panel, door alarm and reset procedures. From 1600 hours to 0800 hours, Safety/Security Officers will respond to emergency calls relating to maintenance and housekeeping problems if an emergency situation. If not an emergency, have the resident call in a work order for completion by proper department. In addition to patrolling kitchens and dining rooms to check for unlocked food storage areas, heating appliances left on, deficient coolers, water leaks, food left out, etc. Turn on or shut off (as appropriate) selected lights as indicated from time to time, in the main high-rise buildings and around campus while performing patrol of the hallways, staircases and all public areas. Assist residents who are locked out of their living quarters or need other help. Responsible for responding to panic calls from Independent Living Perform safety and security inspections and duties as assigned. Enforce parking and traffic regulations on the Lakeview Village campus. Prepare "Daily Activity Reports" accurately and completed in full prior to end of shift. Escort visitors and vendors as needed. Conduct preliminary investigations of accidents, incidents and offenses, reporting thoroughly and accurately. Frequently called to help assist with "lift assists" in residential homes. High Schol Diploma or equivalent required One year experience in a law enforcement, security or emergency response field is preferred. Valid motor vehicle driver's license with a safe driving record. (Driving record must be approved by Insurance provider.) Current first aid and CPR certification are required. Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly. Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others. IND100
