A Security Officer provides security for property at hospitals, hotels, warehouses or office buildings. Monitors entrances and patrols buildings, watches for intruders or vandals; reports building maintenance problems; deals with customers or visitors that create a disturbance in the building.
Part-Time Union Position Overview This position is for a part-time Armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) assigned to provide security services at various federal buildings and installations in and around the Portland, Maine area. Position Summary FPS Protective Security Officers (PSOs) perform critical security and monitoring duties at federal facilities throughout the state of Maine. Responsibilities include securing government buildings and property, protecting personnel and visitors, and controlling access to restricted locations. PSOs are expected to respond to emergencies, conduct inspections and patrols, and maintain a visible security presence. Primary Responsibilities Secure federal buildings and government property Control access for employees, contractors, and visitors Conduct patrols, inspections, and perimeter checks Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations Complete accurate and professional written reports Enforce all federal, contract, and site-specific security procedures Minimum Job Requirements Minimum 2 years of security experience, OR military service, OR law enforcement experience Ability to pass a federal background investigation No felony convictions No domestic violence or assault-related charges Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a valid Social Security card High school diploma or GED required Minimum 21 years of age Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently Must successfully pass: Medical evaluation Drug screening Company will assist with processing required federal clearances Training Requirements Must be available for 5-7 days of mandatory training, including: Firearms training Defensive tactics OC spray and baton training Must hold or obtain CPR / First Aid / AED certification Pay $30.13/hour base pay $5.10/hour Health & Welfare benefit
