Asbury Park, New Jersey A Resident Armed Security Officer for the Asbury Park Housing Authority serves a dual role: housing authority rules, regulations, security and safety protocols and complies with federal, state, county and municipal laws and acting as a trusted community liaison. This frontline armed position blends property protection with resident support, community engagement, and peace-keeping to foster a safe, harmonious living environment. An armed security officer for the Asbury Park public housing authority protects residents, staff, and property. Working under the Executive Director and the Chief of Resident Security Operations, their duties focus on access control, foot patrol, hazard detection, proactive patrolling all housing authority sites and properties, and crisis intervention. Officers execute these responsibilities in strict compliance with HUD and local administrative guidelines and security and safety protocols. The core duties and responsibilities include: Patrol and Surveillance Operations Conduct routine and random foot or vehicle patrols across housing authority sites, building perimeters, and common areas. Monitor fire alarms, panic buttons, and intrusion detection systems to identify suspicious activities or potential hazards. Communicating with the dispatcher of the security department on real-time information without breaking confidentiality. Inspect window bars, doors, and restricted access areas to ensure they have not been tampered with. Access Control and Visitor Management Manage entry points by enforcing such as verifying resident identification and issuing visitor passes and warnings. Control vehicular traffic, enforce parking rules (e.g., parking decal validation), and prevent unauthorized individuals from lingering or entering restricted property. Emergency Response and Incident Management Respond swiftly to alarms, medical emergencies, fires, calls for service and disturbances, and coordinate with (police, fire, and medical responders). Perform de-escalation strategies to defuse tense interactions or conflicts before they escalate into violence. Weapons Maintenance and Security Standards Maintain total security and proper, secure storage of authorized duty weapons and protective equipment at all times. Demonstrate readiness to use assigned weapons for defensive purposes or to protect human life, strictly adhering to legal use-of-force protocols and Authority directives. Administrative Reporting and Community Relations Document all incidents in an official preliminary investigative or field report, turning it in each day to the Chief Operational Office as a secret report to be viewed only by the executive director, the Chief of Security Operations/ His deputy and those who have a need to know. You are also to take and document resident complaints that may have nothing at all to do with security but another department, you are ordered to still document this incident and pass it up the security chain of command. You are also required to do and complete daily activities, and security breaches using detailed logs (Daily) which will be turned in every Tuesday Morning NLT 12 noon. official incident reporting standards. Maintain a professional, accessible demeanor with residents to build trust and encourage the reporting of community safety concerns. Testify in court or hearings regarding arrests and incidents as needed
