Campus Safety Officer (1st Shift)

Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking a Campus Safety Officer to join the Campus Safety team. Campus Safety Officers promote lawful behavior and protect the welfare of students, faculty, staff and visitors as a uniformed presence on campus. A Campus Safety Officer performs foot and vehicle patrols of campus to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property, investigate disturbances, maintain order during events and enforce student code of conduct, college policies and state and local laws. This is a 1st shift position, working 7 am - 3 pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Respond to incidents on campus, determine actions to take, and document a complete written record of the incident to meet federal and College reporting requirements; Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrol as well as surveillance for the entire College campus; Mobilize local law enforcement and/or appropriate community or campus agencies in situations involving campus disturbances and individual physical or mental illnesses that cannot be resolved through immediately available College resources; Prevent unauthorized persons from entering the buildings and grounds of the College; Respond to emergency maintenance calls; Enforce parking and traffic regulations on campus; Render first aid as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possess a valid NYS Security Guard License; Basic computer skills encompassing Microsoft Office, Jenzabar, Maxient, and others; Ability to drive and operate a vehicle; Possess CPR and First Aid certification, or successfully complete once employed; Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends, on call, and holidays.

COMPENSATION

: $16.50 per hour This position is benefit eligible.
