Job Description
Position Summary The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant environment at Natural Leaf, an adult-use cannabis dispensary. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers by providing a professional and welcoming experience while verifying customer identification, controlling access to the dispensary, monitoring the premises, and helping ensure compliance with all applicable laws, company policies, and security procedures. Key Responsibilities Greet and welcome customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner. Verify customer identification and confirm age requirements before permitting entry into the dispensary. Control access to the dispensary and ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas. Monitor the dispensary, entrances, exits, parking areas, and surrounding property for safety and security concerns. Continuously monitor the dispensary and surveillance camera systems to maintain awareness of customer activity, identify potential security concerns, and help protect customers, employees, inventory, and company property. Observe, identify, and report suspicious activity, disturbances, safety hazards, or policy violations. Assist with customer flow, queue management, and crowd control during busy periods. Respond appropriately to incidents and emergency situations while following company procedures. Document incidents accurately and prepare written reports when required. Communicate effectively with management, emergency responders, and law enforcement when necessary. Enforce company policies, security procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain a professional, approachable, and customer-focused presence throughout each shift. Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States. Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard Registration. Completion of the New York State 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course is required. Completion of the New York State 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Course is preferred or must be completed in accordance with New York State requirements. Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to remain professional in all situations. Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain calm under pressure, and de-escalate conflicts when appropriate. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Ability to stand, walk, and monitor the premises for extended periods. Previous retail, dispensary, or customer-facing security experience is a plus. Experience with ID verification and access control is a plus.
